One huge issue in publicly funded science grants in the US is that much of the public funds are designated and directed by the executive branch of our government. These monies are also approved and directed by Congress, but how many of these politicians know anything about science? Very few actually, worse, politicians at this level are all about maintaining power and that means rewarding those who got them there - and/or are beholden to the political leanings of their parties. Let me explain.
Do you remember when President George Bush wrote an executive order prohibiting the Federal Government from funding most Stem Cell Research? That was a slap in the face to science for religious leanings. I would submit to you, as bad as that is or was, we have an even more challenging and vexing problem today; the funding of climate science with US Taxpayer Dollars focusing on proving a theory that mankind's CO2 emissions is causing catastrophic warming of the planet, melting glaciers, rising sea levels, extreme weather events and the eventual death of most species. This is the theory of Global Warming.
Why is our government directing so much energy, resources and money to the funding of this type of science? It's simple, it's all about politics, control and hijacking of our energy sector. It's all about destroying the fossil fuel sector for an alternative energy agenda. Perhaps the worst part of the whole thing is that important funds have been diverted away from other science, science that is important for the future of humankind. Using our universities and research centers in the United States as propaganda pawns for this agenda, even if they are willing participants for the monetary carrot before them, is prostituting science and it puts a wedge between science and trust.
In essence we are giving legitimacy to a false theory for the sole purpose of a power political agenda that challenges all we are and all we've built and ushers in a new age of global socialism as our leadership conspires with other global leaders all in a Kumbaya feeding frenzy that would make the Club of Rome proud. Our leftist leadership is always attacking large corporations and the incestuous relationship they have with our politicians - they tell us to "follow the money" as their proof. Okay then, follow the money, I've already shown you where that yellow brick road leads - but for now just consider that beautiful road one that is being paved with the purported best of intentions. For me, I see the whole picture - and it really disgusts me.
